The Sean Devereux Committee are having the biggest interhigh school basketball olympic in Monrovia in honour of Sean. It takes place at the SD DBYC in New Matadi tomorrow, Nov 25th. Money raised will go for Jan 2nd’s programs. We have been involved in hectic planning sessions for the past two months. All the groups with name Sean are involved. Radio promos are now being aired and the attendance is expected to be high. Pep talks about Sean will be held during the journey. Click here to see more

On Nov 22nd the new SDCEP building was dedicated. It was a jam-packed activity with people from the MOE, UN, and other sectors of society present. I will send you the video and a report soon. The program was wonderful and everybody praised the SD trustees UK for the help. The building is a new boost for the children to attend sch regularly. There will be a morning, afternoon sessions and nighttime literacy program for all ages (literacy).

Volunteers of Sean are trying to be incorporated in late December to become a fulfledged organization under the laws of Liberia. This will put us in a better position to work as a registered group. Because Sean was a teacher, we hope to concentrate first on improving some aspects of Liberian education such as working with the MOE to force school owners to reduce tuition. High tuition and fees are preventing many people from sending their children to school. VOS thinks that’s unfair. We also hope to work with other institutions like Right to Play to involve more schools (not before involved) in sporting activities especially “big schools” like Don Bosco High playing against “small schools” like Christ Foundation. More details later.

VOS would be delighted to get some of the computer items you are now collecting for our office next year should we be incorporated. Right now we are using the DB Media Office which is quite busy and small. Not at once but bit by bit, just try your best.

Was down with malaria last week. am just getting up. My regards to all

Cheers,

John Monibah
