Spring Ball - 2007

Thursday 10 May 2007

Dear Friends,

I would like to thank you all for the support given to the Fund for our Charity Ball. In this ‘thank you’ I include the participants, donors and helpers. Without such continued and willing support the evening could not have been successful. We would also like to thank the staff at Wellington College who did so much to help.

The Fund raised £25005 plus the tax recoverable on the donations that are gift-aided. This is a marvellous result; far beyond our expectations enabling the Trustees to proceed with further projects for the children in Africa. Click here to read the rest

The Fund now supports projects in Sudan, Sierra Leone, Tanzania and Liberia. At the moment, we are concentrating on Bursaries and Scholarships in Ghana. These will be overseen by the local Salesian Community whom we trust and who share our objectives giving us complete confidence that the total funds raised will reach those most in need.

Last year I had the privilege of visiting Liberia and glimpsed the realities of everyday life. I witnessed humiliating poverty and was stunned by the suffering of people, especially the children. Visiting our projects and seeing how your valuable contributions are utilised was so encouraging demonstrating the difference it makes to the children.

The Fund, with your help, will continue to raise money, for deprived children, and alongside our other activities, we plan a Golf Day at East Berkshire on Friday 28 August 2008.

Once again, many thanks and best wishes.

Maureen Devereux

PS If you organised a table please a pass copy of this ‘thank you’ to fellow guests. Thank you
