The Sean Devereux Children’s Fund Ball – 1 October 2009
Dear Friends
Where can I possibly start to say ‘Thank You All’? The Trustees organised the 6th Celebratory Ball at Wellington College for the end of October. From the outset we were particularly concerned to arrange our event when economic circumstances were seen to be most difficult. Well our fears were unfounded and the financial outturn proved a record result!
It is my privilege and pleasure to thank everybody for their extremely valuable contributions. The contributions came from attendees, donors, helpers and especially non-attendees – who whilst, unable to attend, came forward with tremendous support. I thank you all for this wonderful effort.
The event has raised some £27,000 including recovery of income tax on gift aided donations. I believe this is a wonderful result and enables the Trustees to continue to help deprived children in Africa where the Fund has projects running. The work of the Fund will not solve the enormous problems in Africa – but what we do – does make a difference and reach those most in need.
The Fund will continue in its efforts to raise monies – for our projects – and we will keep you informed through our newsletters of future activities to help this process.
With every good wish for Christmas and the New Year – may God bless you and your Family.
With very best wishes
Maureen
